Caitlin Clark gets US Olympic camp invite amid March Madness run

Caitlin Clark’s schedule for the Final Four weekend is pretty packed.

On Thursday, USA Basketball announced that Iowa basketball stars have been invited to attend Olympic training camp in Cleveland from April 3-5.

That could create a bit of a problem when Clark and the top-seeded Hawkeyes play in their second consecutive Final Four on April 5, with the national championship game coming up two nights later.

Of course, Iowa State must win two more games to advance to the final game in Cleveland, starting with Saturday’s Sweet 16 matchup with No. 5 Colorado State in Albany.

A loss at MVP Arena would generate a lot of headlines, but it could also allow Clark to attend Olympic camp.

Clark previously played on the U.S. junior team, winning three gold medals, most recently with the U19 team in 2021.

The past two WNBA No. 1 overall picks, Aliyah Boston and Rhyne Howard, are also scheduled to attend Cleveland camp, and Clark is expected to be the Indiana Fever’s top pick in the April 15 draft. .

Nine former Olympians will participate in the camp, including Diana Taurasi, Ariel Atkins, Chelsea Gray, A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, Brittney Greiner, Jewel Lloyd and Brianna Stewart.
