Caitlin Clark had ‘fun with the girls’ during historic WNBA triple-double

Caitlin Clark spoke about some of the “fun” moments from historic Saturday.

“Had a great time with the girls,” she wrote in the caption of a series of Instagram photos as she became the first WNBA rookie to record a triple-double and is in line to win the league’s Rookie of the Year award.

She accomplished the historic feat on Saturday, finishing with 19 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds in an 83-78 upset win over league-leading Liberty at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Clark shared a photo of him smiling while speaking with reporters after the game, as well as several action shots from his big afternoon.

The 22-year-old also posted photos of herself on the court with teammate Katie Lou Samuelson, as well as pictures of her interacting with young fans and signing jerseys, basketballs, posters and signs.

“We were enchanted to meet No. 22,” one of the signs read.

Clark came close to a triple-double last week, falling just one rebound short in the Fever’s 88-82 win over the Mercury last Sunday, but did grab a rebound in the fourth quarter against Liberty on Saturday.

“Obviously, it’s been really great,” Clarke told reporters on Saturday. “My teammates are scoring at a really high rate, so I think the assist numbers are down to them.”

Record aside, it was certainly fun to win against the best team in the league and improve the Fever’s playoff chances.

If the 40-game season were to end today, the Fever (9-13) would hold the eighth place spot in the league and the final playoff spot.

The win over New York puts them 1/2 game behind the Dream (7-12).

The team gained a foothold with the addition of first-round draft pick Clark and has improved significantly since starting the season 2-9.

“Kaitlyn’s triple-double is incredible. It’s unbelievable,” Fever coach Christy Sides said after the latest win. “Holding New York to 16 points in the fourth quarter was huge for us. They’re the No. 1 team in the league.”
