Caitlin Clark has awkward reporter exchange with boyfriend question before WNBA debut

For Caitlin Clark, it was a strange entrance into professional media.

The Indiana Fever star has already had some awkward interactions during WNBA media appearances.

Before Clark made his WNBA debut, scoring 21 points in a preseason game against the Dallas Wings on May 3, he had another bizarre exchange with reporters.

Before the game, she was asked by a reporter if “Bey” would be playing and mentioned her boyfriend, former Iowa State basketball player Connor McCaffery.

“Um, no. He’s working…I’m playing solo,” Clark said. “You better get used to him, dude. I’m a pro.”

A few weeks ago, Clark had a famously awkward exchange with Indianapolis Star columnist Greg Doyle.

He began the interaction by flashing a heart symbol for Clark to show his family after the game, to which Clark responded, “I don’t know.

It sparked an argument that ended with Doyle saying, “If you start doing that to me, we’ll get along.”

He later apologized for how awkward it was.

Clark also blocked former NFL All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown from making crude comments.

Clark and the Fever are scheduled to host the Atlanta Dream on May 9th, but that was previously moved to May 10th as the Pacers host the Knicks in Game 3 of their NBA playoff series.

The game is the Fever’s preseason home opener and the last on the schedule before the regular season begins on May 14th.
