Caitlin Clark has wild night celebrating WNBA Draft with boyfriend

Kaitlyn Clark and boyfriend Connor McCaffrey looked out over New York City’s star-studded skyline Monday night after she was made the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever.

McCaffrey is a former All-American point guard at the University of Iowa and the son of former Iowa men’s basketball team and Iowa head coach Fran McCaffrey, according to a photo Clark shared on her Instagram Story. They were reportedly enjoying cocktails at The Fleur Room.

Moxy Chelsea’s glass lounge on the 35th floor offers 360-degree views of the Manhattan skyline, from the Statue of Liberty to the Empire State Building. Clark and players from his 2024 WNBA Draft class posed for photos before the big event.

Clark, 22, captioned a post with two photos of herself and McCaffrey: “My favorite person in the world.”

McCaffrey, who currently works as a team assistant for the Indiana Pacers, also reposted a photo of Clark with the Pacers and Fever, captioning it, “Welcome to Indiana.”

The couple was seen with Clark’s former Iowa teammates Kate Martin, Jada Gyamfi and Gabby Marshall, as well as Hawkeyes assistant coach Raina Harmon, confirmed in photos on social media.

Martin attended the WNBA Draft at the Brooklyn Academy of Music to support Clark, and was ultimately selected in the second round, 18th overall, by the defending champion Las Vegas Aces.

McCaffrey took to his X account to slam Clark in response to someone who wrote, “I want to see @connor_m30’s reaction to Caitlyn’s draft day fit.”

McCaffrey shared some flirtatious emojis in her reply post, while Clark responded with a teary-eyed smiling emoji.

It’s unclear exactly when Clark and McCaffrey started dating.

Clark made their relationship public in August 2023 when she shared a photo of the couple on a boat.

McCaffrey continued to publicly support Clark until March Madness in 2024.

Herb Simon owns a WNBA team and the Pacers, so the couple must be excited for Clark to remain in the Midwest to play for the Fever.

Clark’s rise to fame at the University of Iowa played a huge role in the growth and dominance of women’s college basketball during March Madness.

The NCAA women’s title game between the Clarks-Hawkeyes and the South Carolina Gamecocks surpassed the men’s UW-Purdue championship showdown by millions.

Clark, the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer for both men and women, set a new record in the 2024 title game with 18 points in the first quarter, the most in a national championship game at one point.

Iowa fell short to South Carolina 87-75 as the Hawkeyes lost to LSU in the title game the previous year.

The WNBA begins training camp on April 28th and the season begins on May 14th.

The Indiana Fever opens the season in Connecticut.
