Caitlyn Clark seemed to injure her groin during the Indiana Fever’s game against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night. She was visibly upset, shedding tears, and made a bounce pass to her teammate Kelsey Mitchell while moving to the basket.
During the game, Clark dribbled toward Mitchell and scored nine straight points. When Mitchell cut backdoor, Clark executed a clever pass, allowing Mitchell to finish with a layup. Afterward, Clark returned to the basket and appeared to collide with the padding.
She eventually left the court, covering her head with a towel. Fever head coach Stephanie White mentioned that Clark felt some discomfort in her groin as the game wound down. The crowd had been supportive throughout the game.
Clark has already missed nine games this season due to prior injuries. She recently returned from a groin issue and was playing with limited minutes. During Tuesday’s matchup, she managed to score 14 points while also contributing eight rebounds and eight assists. Clark’s shooting, though, has been inconsistent throughout the season, as she navigated through injuries.
She was initially set to participate in a three-point shooting contest this weekend during the WNBA All-Star Game, but now those plans may be up in the air due to her recent injury.
