Caitlin Clark laments Angel Reese’s season-ending injury: ‘It’s really devastating’

Indiana Fever rookie superstar Caitlin Clark was the favorite to win the WNBA Rookie of the Year award with Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese out for the rest of the season with a wrist injury.

Clark was asked about Reese's injury before the Fever played against the Atlanta Dream on Sunday.

“It's just so sad to see somebody go down with an injury, especially the guys that you came into this league with,” Clark said. IndyStar“I would love to see what she does this year, obviously it’s been a historic year for her and she’s done some incredible things.

“Playing against her, I thought her engine was one of the best, if not the best, in the league. She never stops working. I thought she had a great year. She came into the league and did a really good job of doing what she's been doing her whole career for as long as I've known her.”

“It's absolutely tragic. As a player, it's something you never want to see.”

Clark lamented some of the injuries suffered by rookies, including Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink, who left the team earlier this year.

Reese announced at the X that he would miss the remainder of the season with the Sky in contention for a playoff spot.

“I am overwhelmed with emotions after suffering this season-ending injury, but also overwhelmed with gratitude for what is to come. This is God's timing, not mine, but I am finally able to get some physical and mental rest. 'God gives the toughest battles to his strongest warriors,'” she wrote.

Reese averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds in 34 games.
