Caitlin Clark Retaliates, Shoves Opponent During Physical Game

The days of Caitlin Clark winning by being pushed by her opponents may be coming to an end.

During a highly competitive game against the Washington Mystics on Wednesday night, Clark challenged Washington’s Julie VanLuh’s physical defensive style and shoved her.

Clark appeared to be dropping behind the arc to receive a pass and then attempting a long-range three-point shot. Van Lew, knowing Clark’s incredible penchant for long-range shooting, followed her to the other side of the line, which seemed to spur Clark on.

Or maybe he just didn’t get any help from his teammates.

Clark put together a historic performance on Wednesday night that is unprecedented in WNBA history: 29 points, 13 assists, five rebounds, five three-pointers, five steals and three blocks.

So how did her teammates respond to that performance? Only two other players scored in double figures, one of whom only managed 11 points, and the rest of the team barely contributed in the 89-83 loss.
