INDIANAPOLIS — Caitlin Clark had a career-high 35 points and eight assists, Kelsey Mitchell added 30 points and the pair made 12 of Indiana's 16 3-pointers to help the Fever beat the Dallas Wings 110-109 on Sunday.
Clark's 329 assists are a WNBA single-season record, and she recorded a rookie-record 761 points this season, breaking the previous record set by Seymourne Augustus (744) in 2006.
Indiana (20-19) is coming off back-to-back losses to the two-time defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces, who earned the sixth seed in the playoffs that begin next Sunday.
The Fever will face the third-seeded Connecticut Sun in the first round, who have won three of the four regular-season meetings between the two teams.
Indiana tied the franchise record for points scored in a single game and tied its season high for 3-pointers made. The Fever made 38 of 76 field goals, 47 percent from the 3-point line and 18 of 21 (86 percent) free throw attempts.
Clark drove for a layup, stole a pass at the other end and got another layup off a screen by Temi Fagbenle to give the Fever a 90-86 lead with 6:35 left.
Teela McCowan scored inside to cut the lead to two, but Clark made consecutive 3-pointers and a free throw after being fouled in transition to put the score at 97-88 with four minutes left.
Arike Ogunbowale raced in the lane and then made a layup to start an 8-0 run that pulled the Wings within one with 2:27 left in the half.
Mitchell made a 3-pointer off an inbounds pass from Clark, Sato Sabari scored in the paint and Damiris Dantas drained 3-pointers 25 seconds apart to give Indiana a 106-98 lead with a minute left.
Ogunbowale passed to Natasha Howard for a short pull-up jump shot and then a 3-pointer with 41 seconds left to pull within one.
Clark and Aaliyah Boston each made 2 of 2 free throws to hold off the Wings, who got three-pointers from Ogunbowale and Sabally with 2.1 seconds left.
Dallas (9-30) has lost eight straight games.
Ogunbowale and Sabally each scored 27 points for the Wings, while Natasha Howard added 26 points and 10 rebounds.
Boston held Indiana to 15 points.
The Fever have won and lost their past two meetings with Dallas this season, with both wins coming on their home court by scoring at least 100 points.
