For the first time in six years, Kate Linklark will miss a game.
The Indiana Fever star has been sidelined for Saturday’s preseason matchup against the Washington Mystics.
Throughout the past six seasons, Clark participated in every game, including preseason matches.
However, the Indiana injury report from Friday indicated she has a left leg injury. On Saturday morning, as she went through her usual game day routine, she admitted feeling “a little nervous.”
After deciding to hold Clark out, Fever head coach Stephanie White emphasized the importance of caution, especially given that it’s just a preseason game.
“The biggest thing is we have to think about the long run,” White stated. “We need to be sure we’re not risking Caitlin’s health. It’s essential to consider the long-term perspective rather than just the short-term. This season is longer than the last.”
The Fever have another preseason game scheduled for Sunday, which holds even more significance for Clark. This will take place at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City against the Brazilian national team, a matchup tied to her alma mater.
