Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend gives peek at how WNBA star is enjoying break

Caitlin Clark is enjoying a much-needed break following her first WNBA All-Star game.

Photos posted to social media show the ‘Fever’ newbie and boyfriend Conor McAfee vacationing together somewhere warm.

McCaffrey, who played for the University of Iowa men’s basketball team and now works as a team assistant with the Indiana Pacers, shared a photo of Clark in a bikini and giving a peace sign on a boat.

The former Hawkeyes point guard was sitting near Will Matthiessen, a right-handed pitcher out of Stanford who was selected by the Pirates in the sixth round of the 2019 MLB draft.

Matthiessen is dating Clark’s Fever teammate, guard Lexi Hull, who was also photographed at Boat Day.

In photos shared by an Instagram fan account, Clark and Halle were all smiles as they relaxed on a large yellow raft on the water.

“I’m on vacation!” said Clark, who finished with four points, one rebound and 10 assists. He spoke at the post-match press conference. “Well, this is your last for a month. Ask your questions.”

“Honestly, I can’t wait to not touch a basketball for a while, because I’ve taken so many shots this past year,” Clark joked.

The 22-year-old Iowa native was clearly joking, but it’s been about a year since Clark last took an extended break from basketball.

Clark was in his senior year at the University of Iowa and led the school to the NCAA championship game in April, where they lost 87-75 to the University of South Carolina.

Two weeks later, Clark was selected first overall by the Fever in the WNBA Draft.

The former All-American guard was not selected for the 12-man roster that will compete in the Summer Olympics, which begin this week in Paris.

“It’s nice for her to have a breather and rest after all the hard work we’ve put in after the Olympic break,” Fever coach Christy Said said Wednesday. “I think it’s great for her. She’s been working so hard for so long now, and this will really help her de-stress.”

Clark’s time off, along with Fever center Aaliyah Boston and veteran guard Kelsey Mitchell, was postponed due to the WNBA All-Star game.
