For Connor McCaffrey, there was no other choice for the AP WNBA Rookie of the Year in 2024.
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark was named the recipient on Sunday, just hours before the team's Game 1 postseason loss to the Connecticut Sun. Clark was unanimously selected as the winner, and her boyfriend had a one-word response:

“Duh,” he wrote on his Instagram Story.
Clark was also named to the All-WNBA First Team and the All-WNBA Rookie Team, and finished fourth in WNBA MVP voting, with Las Vegas Aces center A'ja Wilson winning the award unanimously.
“I am incredibly honored to be named the Associated Press Rookie of the Year,” she said, “This honor would not have been possible without my great teammates and coaching staff, and I look forward to continuing an exciting regular season into the postseason.”

The Fever guard broke the league's single-season assist record (337), became the most points ever scored by a rookie (769) and led Indiana to the postseason.
Clark started all 40 regular season games for the Fever and averaged 19.2 points per game. She was the first rookie to record a triple-double and the first player in Fever franchise history to do so. She set a WNBA record for most assists in a game with 19 assists in July against the Dallas Wings.

McCaffrey recently accepted a position with the Butler Bulldogs men's basketball program under head coach Thad Matta.
