Kate Clark’s All-Star Game Status Uncertain
New York – The status of Kate Clark for the upcoming WNBA All-Star Game is still up in the air after she exited a game against the New York Liberty on Wednesday night due to a groin injury.
Head coach Stephanie White of the Indiana Fever did not address the media regarding Clark’s availability for the All-Star Weekend events, set to take place at Gainbridge Field House starting Friday.
Clark is expected to compete in Friday’s three-point contest and will act as captain during Saturday’s All-Star Game. However, White noted, “There’s really been no discussion about this weekend yet. Imaging was done, and while we’re sitting her out tonight, we haven’t talked specifics since then.”
Clark incurred the injury late in the fourth quarter while playing against the Connecticut Sun in Boston on Tuesday night. White expressed that she doesn’t think it’s a significant injury. Clark has previously missed some time in May due to a quad issue and was recently sidelined for five games due to tightness in the same area.
White added that taking a cautious approach with Clark is vital for both her health and the team’s long-term success. “We have to prioritize the big picture here. Her well-being is essential, and we’ll continue to be careful to ensure she’s fully prepared whenever she returns to the court,” she said.
Regarding the updates on Clark’s condition, White mentioned that things were looking positive: “You should check with the athletic training staff for the finer details. I see it as encouraging news, from my perspective.”
