Caitlin Tracey’s remains discovered severely damaged in upscale Chicago apartment

The family of Caitlyn Tracy, a Chicago tech executive, is seeking justice following her tragic death, which occurred under suspicious circumstances. The 36-year-old suffered “multiple injuries” from a fall, as determined by Cook County medical examiners, who described the fall as being from a significant height in a luxury condominium where she lived with her husband.

Despite the circumstances surrounding her death being ruled as “undecided,” no charges have been filed. Caitlyn’s husband, Adam Beckerink, a 46-year-old tax attorney from Chicago, has faced past allegations of domestic abuse in their hometown of New Buffalo, Michigan.

Beckerink was initially taken in for questioning after reporting Caitlyn missing prior to her body being discovered on October 27, but he was later released without any charges against him.

Her family is adamant about drawing attention to Caitlyn’s case. A lawyer representing them mentioned that her body showed severe injuries consistent with a fall, raising concerns about the circumstances that led to her death. Additionally, Caitlyn’s parents were embroiled in a legal dispute over her remains, stemming from Beckerink’s claim of having rights as her surviving spouse. Eventually, her parents gained control and brought her body back to Michigan.

Beckerink was terminated from his position at a corporate law firm after the abuse allegations came to light. Furthermore, a Michigan warrant was issued for him last month following another domestic violence incident that occurred in January, where police observed injuries on Caitlyn. She accused Beckerink of assault and theft, claiming he had taken some of her belongings during a heated confrontation.

In an alarming detail from police reports, allegations included incidents of physical harm and threats associated with Beckerink. This troubling behavior continued, as he was charged in August 2024 with various offenses related to domestic violence.

Interestingly, Caitlyn had previously sought a protection order against Beckerink in November 2023 but withdrew the request shortly after, prompted by fears of legal repercussions from him. Following Beckerink’s arrest on March 7, he was held at Cook County Jail, but the specifics of his case in Michigan remain unclear.

It’s uncertain whether the new details regarding Caitlyn’s death will lead to any shifts in the ongoing investigation by the Chicago Police Department. Responses from officials at Chicago PD and the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan have yet to be provided.
