The United Cajun Navy has clarified details regarding the discovery of Nolan Wells, admitting that he was found without clothes when his body was located underwater in Mississippi.
During a news conference on Wednesday, civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump informed reporters about the preliminary autopsy findings related to the teen’s death. Crump had previously stated that Wells was found “fully clothed” on Horn Island, although he was only in swim trunks that day.
The misunderstanding seems to have originated from Monday’s “The Nancy Grace Show,” where host Nancy Grace interviewed Todd Terrell, the head of the United Cajun Navy.

Grace posed a question to Terrell, recalling, “What I remember is that Todd Terrell, Nolan, was lying face down on the beach, fully clothed. Is that right?”
“Yes, that’s correct. He was face down,” Terrell replied. He elaborated that being found fully clothed near the beach suggested that could be where he drowned.
Terrell later noted that Grace should have responded to her own comment about the body being “fully clothed,” explaining that she had just received the call three minutes before going live.
“I went along with her because he was clothed. Maybe I should have corrected her,” he told a local outlet.
According to Terrell, a Cajun Navy pilot had seen Wells’ body from the air and reported he was wearing swimming trunks, similar to those worn by other men on the island.
He clarified, “From what we saw, he was fully clothed, meaning he was wearing shorts,” adding that Wells had the same blue swim trunks he wore earlier that day.
A spokesperson for Benjamin Crump has yet to respond to requests for additional comments.
