Kansas City, Mo. — Cal Lowry made waves by hitting a home run, tying the Seattle season record set by the legendary Ken Griffey Jr.

In a remarkable display, Raleigh’s first homer came against Michael Wacha—it was a powerful 419-foot drive from the left side of the plate, bringing his seasonal total to 55. This feat broke the long-standing record of Mickey Mantle, who was renowned for being a switch hitter back in 1961.

Lowry followed up with another impressive shot the next year, this time a 425-footer against Daniel Lynch IV, hitting it right-handed. This home run tied the club record that Griffey initially set during the 1997 season.

This season marked the 20th multi-homer game for “Big Damper” Lowry, a fitting milestone for the All-Star catcher. He also had a double in the first inning, wrapping up the game with three hits in five at-bats, which gave him a total of 118 RBIs this year.

Canzone made his mark as well, hitting home runs in the fifth and ninth innings during a steamy late summer evening, with the ball soaring out of the spacious Kaufman Stadium.

The designated hitter also contributed with a single—he ended his night with a perfect five for five and four RBIs.

Rookie Carter Jensen celebrated his first two home runs in the majors while playing in Kansas City. He almost had a third one, but a long flyball in the eighth inning bounced off the right-field wall.

Logan Gilbert (5-6) had a solid outing, allowing just two runs on six hits over 5²/₃ innings, which kept Seattle in the game.

Wacha (9-12) returned to the mound after a stint on the seven-day concussion list. Unfortunately, he allowed a season-high seven runs along with nine hits in just 2²/₃ innings.
