A 4-year-old boy who went missing from a Fresno-area campground in California has been found safe after spending 22 hours in the wilderness, police said.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office released a video showing Christian Ramirez, who went missing last Thursday from the Rancheria campground near Huntington Lake, being carried to safety by Tulare County Search and Rescue.
“We’re taking you to your family,” one of the rescuers can be heard telling the boy as they carry him through the woods.
Authorities said Ramirez was reported missing from the campground shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday and was found around 8 a.m. local time Friday.

“Christian was located approximately a quarter mile from where he reportedly went missing,” the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “Christian is in good condition and was just tired and hungry. He has been reunited with his parents.”

The sheriff’s office said the search for Ramirez was “a great display of teamwork and dedication.”
“In total, more than 50 police officers and volunteers participated in this search,” he added, “including members of other law enforcement agencies who worked tirelessly through the night to assist us.”

Details about how Ramirez disappeared have not yet been released.
