A California man was arrested during a traffic stop on suspicion of impersonating a police officer, officials said.
The driver was stopped near South De Anza Boulevard and Rodriguez Avenue in Cupertino, Calif., after a Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputy noticed the SUV with expired registration, the sheriff’s office said. This was announced in a Facebook post on Sunday.
The vehicle was equipped with siren lights, the sheriff’s office said.

“The suspect installed lights on his vehicle,” the sheriff’s office wrote.
The driver was found wearing security gear with the word “police” written on it. His uniform was equipped with a duty belt and bulletproof vest. He was also wearing a hat that read “Officer Garcia.”
“The suspect did not have a security card,” the sheriff’s office said.

After the driver consented to a search of the vehicle, officers found two firearms, two batons, pepper spray, and methamphetamine inside the vehicle.
The suspect was arrested on charges of impersonating a peace officer, possession of a baton, possession of a concealed firearm, possession of tear gas, forgery of registration, possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of a loaded firearm and controlled substance, and possession of methamphetamine.
