‘Call of Duty’ Series Signs Film Agreement with Paramount

Paramount Partners with Activision for Call of Duty Film

Paramount has struck a deal with Activision to adapt the popular Call of Duty video game franchise into a live-action film.

The details regarding the financial aspects of the agreement remain undisclosed. Sources have indicated that this partnership will kick off with a major film, but it also allows for the possibility of expanding the “Tara” universe into further films and television series.

“Call of Duty has captivated our imaginations with thrilling action and gripping stories that have united millions globally,” a representative stated.

While the storyline for the film hasn’t been finalized, the franchise is well-known for its first-person military shooter gameplay and familiar characters from the games, like those from “Black Ops.”

David Ellison, the Chairman and CEO of Paramount, expressed excitement about the project, acknowledging his own connections to the franchise. “I’ve played this series, which I absolutely love, many times since the original ‘Call of Duty’s first Allied campaign, through ‘Modern Warfare’ and ‘Black Ops’,” he mentioned. “It’s a tremendous honor and responsibility to bring this remarkable storytelling world to the big screen for Activision and players everywhere.”

Furthermore, Kostic from Paramount noted, “We’ve discovered an amazing partner who engages in spectacular cinematic experiences that resonate with our audience. This film will celebrate and further develop the qualities that made this franchise standout. We’re eager to begin.”

This announcement comes on the heels of successful film adaptations of video games, such as “Mortal Kombat,” “Sonic The Hedgehog,” and “Super Mario Bros.,” as well as the hit “Minecraft Movie.”

As one of the best-selling video game franchises ever, Call of Duty has sold over 500 million copies and generated around $30 billion in revenue worldwide as of 2022.

Surprisingly, there have been no prior adaptations of the franchise into film or television. There’s currently no information about production timelines, casting, or release dates.
