Cam Heyward claims Josh Allen kneed him in the stomach

Cam Heyward had a bit of a meltdown during the game against the Bills on Sunday.

The 36-year-old defensive lineman, one of the oldest players in the league, got into a heated exchange with Bills quarterback Josh Allen in the second quarter, when the Steelers were ahead 7-0. Things almost got physical, and later, Heyward accused Allen of kneeing him in the stomach at the end of a run.

“He had his knee on my stomach while I was just moving my jaw,” Heyward shared after the game. “I was, frankly, frustrated throughout the game. It feels like the quarterback gets all the protection while I’m out here taking hits. It’s aggravating.”

On a pivotal third-and-3 play from the 48-yard line, Allen ran up the middle for a crucial first down, but Heyward claimed that Allen’s knee caught him in the stomach during the play, triggering a strong reaction from the veteran.

Right after the confrontation, Allen was quickly pulled away by his offensive linemen, Alec Anderson and Ryan Van DeMark.

As the game went on, Heyward was flagged for taunting late in the match. The Steelers, who had trouble keeping up their earlier momentum, ultimately fell behind, ending the game at 26-7 in favor of the Bills.

Following the game, Allen responded to questions about Heyward’s anger calmly.

“I appreciate the competitive spirit in this game. He’s an amazing player,” Allen remarked. “Sometimes that kind of intensity is what you need to spark things up.”

This victory was important for the Bills (8-4) as they chase a playoff spot, with hopes of stealing the AFC East title from the Patriots (10-2). However, Buffalo’s remaining schedule poses challenges ahead, including a game against the Bengals and a crucial matchup with the Patriots.
