Cam Jordan is making his way back to New Orleans.
On Tuesday, the defensive standout and the Saints announced a new one-year deal.
This contract marks Jordan’s return for his 16th season, following his selection as a first-round pick from California in the 2011 draft.
In a social media video, Jordan expressed his excitement, saying he was “back” for “one final season.”
At 36, he hasn’t dismissed the idea that 2026 could be his last year in the NFL.
“We’ll just see how everything plays out. After 16 years, how much longer do you want me to play?” Jordan mentioned during a press conference on Tuesday. “I plan to approach this season as if each game might be my final one.”
“I’ll keep that mindset. I’m entering this last season with intention since I believe only God and my wife can help me get back on my feet.”
Back in March, ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted that Jordan was “open to leaving New Orleans,” suggesting that there were some hurdles in their contract talks.
Ultimately, they found their way back together, allowing Jordan another go with the only team he’s ever known.
“In any negotiation, there are always things you want and can work through,” he reflected. “What mattered most was how my family felt. I kept telling my foundation and my wife, ‘It’s good to be back, isn’t it? Why not make it happen? As long as we’re all on the same page. We just sorted out a few contract details recently, and suddenly, everything felt clear to move forward.’
Jordan stands as one of the finest players in franchise history, boasting eight Pro Bowls and a record 132 sacks—the most in Saints history.
Throughout his career, he’s been incredibly consistent, playing in at least 16 games every season since joining the league.
Even at his age, Jordan showed he still has the drive. Last season, he participated in all 17 games, wrapping up the year with 47 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, two passes defensed, and two forced fumbles.
