Police reported this week that the home of New Orleans Saints player Cam Jordan in Louisiana was targeted by robbers while he played a game. Two individuals, thought to have traveled nearly 1,000 miles for the crime, have been apprehended.
During the Saints’ 26-21 defeat against the San Francisco 49ers on September 14 at the Caesar Superdome, multiple intruders “forced entry” into Jordan’s residence in Metairie, according to Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto.
“It’s reminiscent of other high-profile robberies involving NFL players and more broadly, similar crimes across the nation. It’s become apparent that certain individuals are focusing on players during games, particularly when they’re on the road,” Lopinto mentioned in a press conference.
Fortunately, no one was at home during the incident; Jordan’s wife notified authorities upon returning.
“That Sunday was just the worst,” Cam expressed on X, recalling both the game loss and the financial hit. But he emphasized that the safety of his family was the most important aspect.
Investigators found that the robbers used a rental car to make a roughly 500-mile journey from Atlanta to Jordan’s home, then drove back the same distance after the crime, as noted by Lopinto.
Conyers, Georgia police stopped a suspicious vehicle less than a day after the robbery, recovering a significant portion of the stolen items. However, details about the stolen goods or their value were not disclosed.
Donald Robinson, 28, and Jarrod Brown, 19, were arrested by police in Conyers, and later taken into custody by detectives from Jefferson Parish.
“We’ve identified two more individuals connected to the robbery who are currently at large,” Lopinto reported. The fugitives have been named as Jahaun Subah, 20, and Develle Ortiz, 19.
The sheriff’s office is collaborating with the FBI to locate the fugitives.
While these suspects haven’t been formally charged yet, it’s likely that they will face accusations including simple robbery and possession of stolen property.
Lopinto quipped that he had “insulted” detectives regarding the suspects, comparing it to Cam Jordan’s rivalry with Matt Ryan.
“We’re not done with this; we will catch you,” Lopinto stated, indicating his determination in the case.
As for Jordan, he has been active in his 15th season, tallying 15 tackles and 2.5 sacks, while the Saints’ record stands at 1-4 so far, with their only win against the Giants recently.
In a similar incident, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s $7.5 million home was broken into while he was away during a Monday Night Football match against the Cowboys in December 2024.
Reports indicated that a bedroom in Burrow’s mansion was “ransacked,” and one window was broken during the break-in.
