CAM Launches App to Report Antisemitic Incidents in Real Time

The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) announced on Tuesday that it has launched a new smartphone application.

The “Report It” app allows users to document incidents like graffiti, harassment, incitement, and violence. Organizations can send relevant reports to law enforcement and community groups. CAM noted that they will examine the verified reports before forwarding them.

According to the organization, reports of antisemitism have surged globally, with a research center noting over 12,000 cases in the last five years. After the October 7, 2023 attacks in Israel, about 3.5 million Jewish Americans reported having “personally encountered antisemitism,” based on a CAM survey commissioned from August to September 2024.

The CAM estimates that between 50% and 80% of antisemitism cases go unreported. The app is aimed at gathering more information and providing a broader perspective on the issue.

CAM CEO Sacha Roytman stated, “The investigation and reporting show that a large majority of antisemitism cases have not been officially reported, often because of mistrust in authorities or complicated reporting systems.” He emphasized that the app offers a quick, safe way for individuals to report hate incidents, hold offenders accountable, and encourage meaningful change.

Users have the option to report anonymously, ensuring their personal information remains confidential. However, the organization did not explain how it would validate the reports or the criteria for when to contact authorities.
