Cam Little Shatters NFL Kicking Records

It seems like Cam Little is ready to change the NFL record books entirely. Just a couple of months ago, the Jacksonville Jaguars’ kicker made headlines with the longest field goal in NFL history at an impressive 68 yards. Now, he’s added to his legacy with a new record: a 67-yard field goal on Sunday.

As the first half wound down against the Tennessee Titans, the Jaguars’ field goal unit took the field for what would soon become a significant moment in the game. The kick pushed Jacksonville’s lead to 31-7, much to the delight of the “Six-Seven” fans worldwide.

While the crowd erupted, Little kept his cool. It’s almost as if such accomplishments are becoming expected from him now, but he brushed aside celebration for the moment. His earlier record-breaking kick occurred on November 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders, surpassing former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, who set a 66-yard record in September 2021 against the Detroit Lions.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Chase McLaughlin also made waves this season with a 65-yard field goal against the Philadelphia Eagles, placing him second all-time behind Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey, who ran for 64 yards against the New York Giants.

Long field goals aren’t a common sight, and Little has surprised even seasoned fans. He managed a 70-yard kick during the preseason and briefly honed his skills in Denver’s thinner air. Interestingly, even with all the attempts, several kickers experienced misses when trying for 70 yards during the regular season.

It’s clear that Little’s contributions could be pivotal for the Jaguars, especially as they aim for a Super Bowl run. If all goes as planned against Tennessee, they could very well secure the No. 1 seed, contingent on losses from both the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots.
