Cam Newton has not stepped back from his comments during Super Bowl Week. He called his old Carolina Panthers teammate “losers” before he reached the team in 2011 and was called by one of his former teammates, wide receiver Steve Smith SR.
On his own podcast “Fourth and One Come Newton” on Thursday, the former quarterback said, “I'm not particularly talking about those guys. I was there before I entered the locker room. We're talking about culture, and that was the way the loser thinks.”
Newton's first comment was on another podcast with former Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter, who said, “I went to the Loser's Locker Room. Honestly. The guy didn't know how to win. Everyone. did not know how to prepare. They did not take themselves. [seriously] To make us come true [were] 2-14. There were many “2-14” in those people's way of thinking. ”
Smith took the exception on X, previously known as Twitter, and angry emojis saying, “53 Man Locker Room – 1 = 52 Loser. Wow… Breaking news to 89.”
He too lAttar added that day“As long as @cameronnewton talks about @Panthers, I watched and listened! None of us are perfect. Yes, before you celebrate our existence, we 2- It was 14. The way @Panthers spoke about the recent, I am very disappointed. I wish you only the best. I'm done!!! “
Newton's first comment on Smith's reaction came Thursday.
“When were we that sensitive?” Newton said. “When did you become so sensitive to really telling what reality is? A locker room full of losers? Aggressive, but that's true.”

He said he believed that before the Panthers went 15-1 and reached the Super Bowl in 2015 it took a while after they arrived in Carolina to change their mentality.
“Is that what you're saying, 'Oh, when I came, I made it all. [better]? “No,” Newton said. “I never said that. I said, if you're drafted, [overall]you go to a bad soccer team. That's the truth. And that's the point I was trying to tell Travis Hunter. Do you understand what I'm saying? For me, everyone is very surprised, like, “Oh, Cam said this.” Bro, that's true. That's true. ”
