Giants Navigate Injuries Amid Surprising Success
The New York Giants have certainly been one of the NFL’s unexpected success stories this year, currently leading the NFC East. However, their journey hasn’t come without hurdles.
This season has seen quarterback Jaxson Dart and wide receiver Malik Nabers sidelined by injuries, which naturally makes fans a bit anxious. Recently, running back Cam Skattebo was listed as a limited participant in practice, dealing with a shoulder issue, adding to the worries.
Yet, in classic Skattebo fashion, he appears more relaxed about the situation than many might expect. The former Arizona State player has a history of resilience, having previously been told to tone down his backflipping after a serious leg injury. He confidently mentioned to the offensive coordinator that he’s eager to play against the Washington Commanders this Sunday.
“Yeah, I already told Coach Nags, ‘Just give me the ball, we’ll be fine,'” Skattebo stated recently, reflecting his trademark boldness.
It’s that kind of attitude from him that fans have grown to appreciate. That said, he did acknowledge experiencing some muscle tightness, which he indicated has improved, and he downplayed the no-contact jersey he wore earlier in the week, saying it was simply a precaution.
“I’m good,” he assured. “Just a little muscle tightness; nothing to worry about … they told me to wear [the no-contact jersey] just for safety. Just doing what I’m told.”
While he maintains that daring attitude—ready to charge ahead no matter the obstacle—he’s also learning to be a bit smarter about his approach. It’s a crucial development, especially as the Giants can’t afford to lose more offensive players given their current standing in the division.
So far this season, Skattebo has achieved 235 rushing yards and one touchdown, averaging 3.5 yards per carry over four games. As the Giants push forward, every play counts.
