Cam Skattebo of the Giants isn’t worried about any Broncos defense trying to shut him down.

After Cam Skatebo’s impressive performance, where he gained a career-high of 98 yards with three touchdowns, it’s likely that opposing defenses will start adjusting their strategies against him.

Interestingly, the rookie running back feels that those adjustments may have already begun. He mentions having a significant role in the offense over the last month, even before his standout game against the Eagles.

“I think it’s already started,” Skatebo remarked following Thursday’s practice as the Giants geared up for their upcoming matchup against Denver. “If they want to bring nine defenders into the box, then someone else will have to step up.” That seems pretty straightforward.

Denver’s robust defense is well-known for targeting quarterbacks, but they’ve also allowed only the seventh-fewest yards this season, along with the eighth-fewest yards per carry at 3.9. Although Skatebo scored three times against the Eagles, it’s worth noting that Denver has permitted only two rushing touchdowns all year.

“They plan just like we do, and if opponents can devise a game plan for me, then I’ll ensure that the ball gets to someone else,” Skatebo commented on the strategies of rival defenses.

John Michael Schmitz Jr. remains in concussion protocol, so there’s a chance Austin Schlotman will start at center again, after stepping in when Schmitz exited last week.

Schlotman practiced alongside Jackson Dart and Skatebo during training camp, and all three are set to work with the second team.

“It’s exciting to block for guys like Dart and others who are eager to get on the field,” Schlotman shared. “They have a competitive spirit, and you can really feel that energy. We bonded a lot during training camp.”

“He doesn’t play like a rookie; he’s been putting in the effort, and it’s showing,” Schlotman said about Dart.

Special teams coordinator Michael Gobrial praised Dane Belton, stating, “He’s playing at a Pro Bowl level. He leads the league in special teams tackles. His dedication and improvement are noticeable, especially on game day. It’s infectious; he’s been performing exceptionally well for us.”

On a different note, Abdul-Carter has only recorded half a sack this season, and last week he didn’t register any tackles. However, defensive coordinator Shane Bowen described him as “very productive.” Bowen expressed hope that once the sacks start coming, they’ll come in bunches.

Meanwhile, wide receiver Darius Slayton missed his second straight practice due to tightness in his hamstring. He has been trying to push himself as much as he can. “I ran the most since I injured my hamstring,” Slayton mentioned. He’s still optimistic about getting back on track for the game against Denver.
