Cam Skatebo Optimistic About Giants’ Future
Cam Skatebo thinks the Giants, currently sitting at a dismal 2-9, can turn things around in a hurry by 2026.
In a recent chat with YouTuber N3on, the rookie running back confidently projected that the team, known as Big Blue, will reach the postseason for the first time since 2022.
“Honestly, this year might be rough, but next year is where it gets exciting,” Skatebo remarked. “I see us finishing 12-5 in the regular season, and then, of course, making the playoffs.”
Right now, the Giants are facing their fifth consecutive loss and, interestingly, they haven’t won a game by more than ten points since 2016. With Brian Daboll let go mid-season and significant changes expected, fans, who are no strangers to disappointment, are looking toward the 23-year-old Skatebo and rookie quarterback Jackson Dart as potential saviors.
This dynamic duo was particularly impressive during a 34-17 victory over the reigning champion Eagles in Week 6. Skatebo burst onto the scene this season, showcasing a powerful running style and racking up seven touchdowns in just eight games—until a foot injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season in late October.
Dart, the Giants’ first-round draft pick, has been making waves since he stepped in as the starter for Russell Wilson in Week 4. Over nine games, he’s thrown ten touchdowns against just three interceptions, not to mention adding a few rushing scores to his name.
As for Dart’s current status, he’s in concussion protocol, casting some uncertainty over whether he’ll be ready for Sunday’s game against the Lions. Backup quarterback Jameis Winston may see action depending on Dart’s condition. Interestingly, despite his injury, Dart displayed a lively presence at practice on Wednesday.
Interim head coach Mike Kafka emphasized, “If Jackson Dart is cleared and fit to play, we absolutely want him out there. But it all depends on the medical team’s assessment.” Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
