Trump’s Second Day in the UK: A Mix of State Events
On the second day of President Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK, he and First Lady Melania Trump engaged in separate activities.
President Trump left Windsor Castle via Marine One to meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Chequers Estate, the Prime Minister’s official residence in Buckinghamshire.
Meanwhile, Melania Trump had a meeting with Queen Camilla at the Royal Library in Windsor Castle, where they viewed Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House. This house, noted as one of the most famous in the world, was created between 1921 and 1924 as a gift for Queen Mary of Teck, who is King Charles’ great-grandmother. During this tour, the queen and first lady also interacted with children present in the library.
Later, Catherine, Princess of Wales, hosted Melania for their first outing together at Frogmore Gardens. They were joined by the UK’s Chief Scout Dwayne Fields and children from the Scouts’ Squirrels program, where the kids earned their “Go Wild” badge exploring nature.
Princess Kate, who was a Brownie in her youth and took on the role of Joint President of the Scout Association in 2020, has previously shared that nature was a supportive factor during her chemotherapy treatments in 2024. It’s heartening to note that she is now in remission.
During their time at the gardens, Melania was seen being led by a young girl to a crafting station where children were assembling “bug hotels” using cardboard. When asked about her favorite insect, Melania cheerfully responded, “a ladybug.”
Kate joined the children sitting on the grass, engaging with them about their artwork. Later, both women participated in games with colorful parachutes and soccer balls, really embracing the playful atmosphere of the day.
