Memorial Fundraiser for Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University

Utah Senator Daniel McKay (R) has initiated a fundraising campaign to establish a permanent memorial for Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who was tragically murdered on campus during a recent event.

The 31-year-old conservative activist and devoted Christian was shot during his “American Comeback Tour” at Utah Valley University (UVU). He leaves behind his wife Erica and their two young children. The assailant has not yet been caught.

“We come with heavy hearts to honor Charlie Kirk, a courageous advocate for truth, freedom, and conservative values,” McKay said, announcing the campaign on a fundraising platform. “Charlie’s dedication to empowering young people and promoting critical thinking has had a profound impact on many, particularly at UVU.”

McKay has set a fundraising goal of $50,000 to create what he calls a “dignified, lasting tribute.” As of now, over $2,000 has been raised from 39 different donations.

One donor expressed, “Blessing the family of Charlie Kirk, may he rest peacefully in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Another remarked, “One generation that has inspired so many. The bullet cannot stop him. Let’s carry on his mission!”

McKay envisions the memorial as a “beautiful monument,” a testament to Kirk’s influence, which will feature one of his quotes. “These words represent the lasting impact Charlie has made in the hearts and minds of those he inspired,” he noted.

According to McKay, the memorial will serve as a place for students, faculty, and visitors to reflect on Kirk’s legacy of courage, belief, and open discourse. It stands as an inspiration for future generations at UVU to engage boldly in intellectual discourse and uphold their principles.

The funds will cover design and construction costs, plaques, landscaping, and necessary permits. Additionally, another fundraiser has been launched to support Kirk’s family.
