Campbell Soup Co to leave ‘soup’ out of new name

Campbell Soup Co. is making a historic change to its iconic brand name.

The company announced Tuesday that it would adopt the Campbell's Company name “as part of its evolution and portfolio transformation.”

“This subtle but important change will better reflect the full breadth of our portfolio while maintaining the iconic name recognition, reputation and assets we have built over 155 years,” Chief Executive Mark Close said in a statement.

Campbell provided investors with an update on its growth strategy and announced a name change, which is subject to shareholder approval.
