Campbell's Company CEO Mark Close is leaving the packaged food company to join the front office of the NFL's Washington Commanders early next year.
Coaches announced Tuesday that Close will become president and head of team operations in late January.
Campbell's said his six-year term as CEO will end on January 31st.
“Although I am retiring a little earlier than expected, I feel like I have one more activity in my career,” Close said. “The position with the Washington Commanders is a once-in-a-lifetime position that combines my passion for business and my love for sports. A leadership role in professional sports was the only thing that separated me from the Campbell job. .”
