President Donald Trump officially announced. Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have been named to lead the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is tasked with reducing federal bureaucracy and spending.

The Ministry of Government Efficiency's aim is to reduce waste within government, which could include mass layoffs of civil servants.
“Ramaswamy came up with a great idea about how to fire people. OK, I know the problem is you can't fire people just because it's going to go to court,” Glenn says. “If you're running a company and you need to downsize, some companies will just cut entire departments because they don't want to be sued.”
“That should be everyone, right? So what Ramaswami came up with, he says this is just a thought exercise, but I think it's great. What he came up with was, 'We're going to change the government We're going to cut it in half. And this is what we're going to do.'' We're going to say that anyone with a Social Security number that ends in an odd number is fired,'' Glenn explains.
However, if the employee has been elected to the position, he or she cannot be fired in this manner.
“If you're elected to that position, you're not going to be fired. But everyone else, we're cutting the size of government in half,” Glenn says.
meanwhile Stu Brugiere He loves the idea of cutting the government in half, but is skeptical of the approach potentially being taken.
“The benefits have nothing to do with random mass layoffs. We want to fire the worst employees,” Stu says.
“To get to a place of merit, you first have to reduce the size of government. You have it in your blood that it has to happen,” Glenn replied.
