Canada rents billboards across US to push anti-tariff messages

Canada is trying to convince Americans to oppose President Trump's trade war by launching an advertising campaign in 12 red-directed states, promoting anti-biased messages and reminding them that “no one can win” with an approach that comes from the White House.

Foreign Minister Melanie Jolly said last week that the Canadian government will launch a campaign, roll out digital advertising, placing signs along “critical highways” in states such as Florida, Nevada, Georgia, Georgia, New Hampshire and Ohio, warning that Trump's tariffs in Canada will end up wearing Americans.

“We think we need to send a message to the American people, so we think we need to understand that they are at crisis. This really hurts their livelihoods and affects their wallets.”

“And my message to hardworking Americans is to speak to your senators and consult with your family representatives, your mayor, your governor,” the Foreign Minister said. “Send a message that you don't want these tariffs. No one can win, so this approach will come out of the White House.”

Jolly I shared the version Of one of the signs on Social Platform X, the billboard was in white font, saying, “Taxes are taxes on hardworking Americans.”

One sign, share Pittsburgh Post GazetteKennedy Township, Pennsylvania, says “customer duties are gas pump taxes.”

Another is located along the Cincinnati highway and says, “The tariffs are taxes on your grocery bill and were paid by the Government of Canada.” Fox 19 reported on tuesday.

The Canadian government also posted a TV ad on X, calling on Canadians to “#Choosecanada.”

“Canada, more of our time. We are more than a place on the map. We are attitudes. We are people who empathize more than ego.” The narrator says With a 30-second ad. “The more we choose to fly around the flag the most, buy maple leaves, and rise up as our local adventurous selves, the more we become truly north, unbreakable, strong and free.”

New Canadian Prime Minister Mark Kearney argued this week that Trump's fresh tariff set would hinder American workers and consumers.

“His trade war has hurt American consumers and workers, and that's going to hurt even more,” Carney said. “I think American consumers' trust will be low within a few years.”

Trump is leviing 25% tariffs on a significant amount of goods from Canada, but most are behind on April 2nd.

The Canadian government has been fired, targeting US companies, including electric car giant Tesla, and bans car companies from future electric car rebate programs.
