Swanton Area Border Patrol agents arrested a record number of immigrants illegally crossing the Canadian border between ports of entry in March. The number of migrants arrested in the first half of this year was almost double the same period last year.
Swanton District Chief Patrol Agent Robert Garcia posted a report on social media revealing that agents arrested a record 1,109 immigrants in March. Garcia said the migrants crossed the Canadian border into the eastern states of New York, Vermont and New Hampshire from 40 countries, including India, Bangladesh and Mexico.

In the first six months of fiscal year 2024, which began Oct. 1, 2023, Swanton District officers arrested 5,170 immigrants, according to the CBP National Encounter Report. This compares to 2,688 people during the same period in FY23, which was a record at the time.
Of the 1,109 migrants arrested in March, 408 were from India, 323 from Bangladesh and 170 from Mexico. Mexico’s six-month total is 1,848 cases and India’s 1,603 cases. His six-month total in Bangladesh is not available from his official CBP report.
Concerns about migrants entering the Swanton area from Canada continued in April. Garcia posted a photo this week showing eight Mexican nationals being held near Rouse Point, New York.

Swanton district officials arrested just 365 immigrants during fiscal year 2021, President Joe Biden’s first year in office. The following year, that number jumped to 1,065. Nearly 7,000 immigrants were arrested in fiscal 2023.

Unlike the Southwest border, where thousands of migrants attempt to surrender to the nearest law enforcement officer, most of the migrants apprehended in the Swanton area were attempting to enter the interior of the United States without being apprehended or inspected, the border official said. a security official previously told Breitbart.

Police identified the migrants as Abdullahi Ndoye, 25, and Ndongo Salih, 25. Both migrants were identified as citizens of Dakar, Senegal. Immigrants died from exposure to damp and cold conditions.
