Canadian Sen. Patrick Brazzo challenged Donald Trump Jr. to a charity boxing match over “fake” tariffs carried out by his father, President Trump this week.
“I know, I still can't believe myself. But I haven't smoked for five years now and have been calm,” the Quebec-based senator said Thursday. post x.
“In light of these fake tariffs from President @Realdonaldtrump from the US, I will challenge you to fight to raise funds for cancer research to arrive in Canada,” the senator added.
Brazzo lost to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the 2012 boxing match.
The Senator's challenge to Trump's son is because tensions between the US and Canada have been simmering over the past few weeks.
The commander imposed a 25% tariff on goods coming from Mexico and Canada, and a 10% collection on Chinese products. Trump said all three countries need to do more to reduce the amount of fentanyl coming across the border.
On Thursday he said he has suspended tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, subject to the 2020 US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The exemption is set to last until April 2nd. The tariffs on the Canadian potassium, an important fertilizer ingredient, fall from 25% to 10%.
“It includes cars and cars were the lead in getting this done, but Canada and Mexico have also done a good job providing more work to prove they cut down on fentanyl death.”
“We are set to move to mutual tariffs and hope that Mexico and Canada will do a good job with fentanyl and this part of the conversation will be off the table,” Lutnick said on April 2nd.
Brazzo said Thursday that Washington and Ottawa “we don't have to go to war, but we can fight to raise money.”
He also argued that tariffs “do nothing” with the US fentanyl influx.
“It relates to our oil, freshwater, minerals, resources, and the Arctic, but to name just a few,” the senator wrote.
