Canadiens Take Precautions Before Facing Wild

Before their game against the Minnesota Wild on Monday night, the Montreal Canadiens reportedly instructed players to remain in their hotel, travel by team bus instead of walking to the arena, and keep their passports on hand.

This news was highlighted in an article by journalist Luc Gelinas. The report indicated that Minnesota is perceived as unsafe, particularly following two fatalities linked to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions last month. These events led to unrest in several areas surrounding Minneapolis and the state capital.

Additionally, it was noted that the Canadiens chose not to head directly to Minneapolis after their game against the Sabers in Buffalo. Instead, they opted to stay in New York for an extra day before making their way to Minnesota.

As for the matchup itself, it seemed to unfold in a standard manner, though things got tense towards the end.

In a dramatic finish, Wild star Kirill Kaprizov secured his team’s 4-3 victory with a power play goal in overtime, taking advantage of a penalty issued to Phillip Danault for interference. Joel Eriksson Ek and Brock Faber also found the net for Minnesota, while Quinn Hughes registered three assists, marking his 50th of the season.

The loss snapped the Canadiens’ winning streak at three games, with Brendan Gallagher, Ivan Demidov, and Kirby Dach all scoring for Montreal.
