Candace Cameron Bure Discusses Age-Related Comments on Social Media
Candace Cameron Bure has recently addressed the numerous comments she receives on social media regarding her age. In her Instagram stories, she mentioned that she gets “countless” messages daily about her looks. One comment that stood out to her was, “Look at you. Really, here it is old… isn’t it aged well?”
Bure voiced her concerns about the potential impacts of such remarks, especially on younger individuals who are also navigating social media, emphasizing the wider implications of online critique.
“It’s one of the downfalls of social media, which I do enjoy,” Bure noted. “As a middle-aged woman, I can handle rude comments, but what about our kids?”
Being forthright about her Christian beliefs, Bure stated she wouldn’t retaliate and would instead pray for those who criticize her. In another story, she clarified that she wasn’t seeking sympathy but simply wanted to illustrate the kind of messages she encounters daily.
Bure, who is 49, wrote, “Aging is sensitive. Such comments can hurt, regardless of the intent behind them.” She added that when one embraces aging, she opts to do so gracefully and naturally. She suspects that people who send these types of messages may be reflecting their own insecurities.
“It makes me sad, and I pray for their hearts to understand God’s love,” she said.
Bure concluded her thoughts with a call for kindness: “Be kind. Lift others up. Spread joy.”
Fans of Bure will recognize her from various films, including “Christmas… present” and “My Christmas Hero.” She also stars in the “Ainsley McGregor Mysteries” series on Great American Family.
Later, she shared a video expressing gratitude for her supportive fans. “I wanted to thank you all for the very kind messages today. I truly appreciate it,” she shared.
Currently, Bure is reading “Gentle and Low: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Patients” by Dane Ortland, which a friend recommended. “I feel this book is timely,” she remarked.
