Candace Cameron Bure reflects on moments of profound struggle in her marriage

Candace Cameron Bure recently opened up about the challenges she and her husband, Valerie Bure, have faced during their 29-year marriage. In an interview with Us Weekly, she admitted that their relationship hasn’t always been “incredible” or “great.”

“There were times when I felt deeply devastated,” she explained, noting that bouncing back wasn’t always straightforward.

She attributes the healing of their relationship to their faith, saying, “God loves restoring and renewing everything, and He certainly does.” While she didn’t delve into specific struggles, she mentioned that balancing work and family life has been an ongoing challenge. “I think many women can relate to that,” she remarked.

Yet she noted that she still finds herself “struggling” at times. “Depending on the day, it could even feel like it might break,” she shared. “I mean, we all go through tough phases. It’s something I think about regularly.”

This candid discussion coincides with the promotion of her upcoming 30-day devotional titled “Rise and Renew,” set to release on November 11.

Candace and Valerie, who married in June 1996, have three children: Natasha, 27; Lev, 25; and Maksim, 23. In a previous podcast, she spoke about a particularly difficult time in 2020, where they questioned the strength of their marriage. Their perspective shifted when their son Lev delivered a thoughtful message on marriage.

“He mentioned, ‘I’m still a young kid, so it’s probably tough to take advice from someone my age,'” she recalled. “But you don’t have to be married to understand what God’s Word says.”

Candace described that conversation as “vital” for their relationship and expressed confidence in the way she and Valerie have raised their children.
