Candace Cameron Bure Speaks Out against Olympic Ceremony and Says ‘God Is Not Mocked’

Actress and director Candace Cameron Bure has spoken out about the Paris Olympics’ controversial opening ceremony, saying she was “sad” and “angry” to see drag queens re-create Leonardo da Vinci paintings and play Jesus and his disciples. Last Supper. The opening ceremony’s designer, Thomas Joly, said the inspiration for the scene was not Da Vinci’s painting, but Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and fertility. However, the producers of the opening ceremony disputed Joly’s remarks, saying in a statement: Last Supper It certainly served as inspiration.

“For the ‘Celebration’ scene, Thomas Joly was inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting,” producers said in a statement. summary“Clearly no disrespect was intended towards any religious group or belief…” [Jolly] “He’s not the first artist to reference world-famous works of art; many have done so before him, from Andy Warhol to ‘The Simpsons.'”

Boulle said on Instagram that he was initially hesitant to speak out but felt the controversy was “too important not to speak out.”

“The best athletes in the world are competing for titles, so watching these incredible events over the next two weeks and seeing the interpretation of the Last Supper during the Opening Ceremony be a total desecration and mockery of the Christian faith is disgusting and very saddening. [also] “I’m angry, but I’m even sadder because I’m grieving my soul.”

In the six-minute video, Bure quoted verses from the Bible and encouraged his non-Christian fans to follow Jesus.

“I pray that what breaks God’s heart will break my heart. She said, “And I think of those who have rejected the gospel of Jesus Christ, those who do not know the gospel of Jesus Christ. And the Bible says, GalatiansThe Bible says, “God cannot be mocked. For whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. For he that sows to his own flesh, from the flesh will reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”

…Jesus continues, “Let us not grow weary in doing well, for in due time we will reap if we do not give up.”

Boulle also addressed Christians who downplay the significance of the depiction.

“It’s people who are half-hearted about this who think, ‘I’m not going to jump on anybody’s bandwagon. I’m going to respect other people’s way of life. I’m going to let people do what they want. I’m going to stay in my camp and keep quiet.'”” “

She then Revelation 3:16“You are neither hot nor cold. I wish you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am going to spit you out of my mouth.”

To those she calls “lukewarm Christians” “Don’t be lukewarm,” Bre said.

Bure encouraged her non-Christian fans to think about the gospel message. Revelation 3:20“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me.”

God desires your heart, She said, “God loves you so much. I encourage you to read the Bible and see how much effort and how patient He is waiting for each of us to just call His name.”

Meanwhile, Bouré said he would continue to watch the Olympics.

“I watch the Olympics, I want to cheer on the athletes. “There are a lot of great Christian athletes competing,” she said, “but I want to cheer them on and I want to see God glorified, and I’ll be watching. … These athletes have dedicated not just the last four years, but their whole lives to this sport.” [they] I had nothing to do with the opening ceremony. So I want to support them. But if you don’t want to watch it, “please do not.”
