Cannon Stops Jack Smith from Releasing Report — for Now

Judge Eileen Cannon of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Tuesday issued an order temporarily blocking the release of former special counsel Jack Smith's report on the so-called “Dossier” case against President-elect Donald Trump.

Mr. Trump's lawyers filed an emergency motion Monday night in U.S. District Courts and Courts of Appeals seeking an injunction against Mr. Smith.

Cannon's order Tuesday read, in part:

Pending resolution of the emergency motion filed in the Eleventh Circuit, and/or further instructions from the Eleventh Circuit, Attorney General Garland, the Department of Justice, Special Counsel Smith, and all of their officers, agents, and employees; and all persons holding such offices. For active concerts or participation with such individuals, see Fed. Pursuant to R.Civ. P. 65(d)(2): (a) publish, share, or transmit the final report or any draft thereof outside the Department of Justice; or (b) otherwise publish, distribute, or Temporarily prohibited from communicating or transmitting. Sharing information or conclusions of the final report or a draft thereof with anyone outside the Department of Justice.

The order on Smith's report remains in effect until three days after the 11th Circuit's decision, Cannon wrote.

Smith filed a similar report in October in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., which critics say is a deliberate attempt to interfere in the presidential election by slandering President Trump. insisted.
