(LEX 18) — Tens of thousands of Capitol One customers are losing their direct deposits, and the company is calling it a third-party vendor issue.
Ronnie Davis, of Somerset, is one such customer. He was paid nothing Wednesday, Thursday and today.
“We have other money to make up for it, but it's still my money,” Davis said.
Thousands of people reported problems on Down-Detector, a website that monitors outages.
“Capital One handled this in such a heinous manner,” Davis said.
In Capitol One's initial statement Thursday afternoon, the company said:
“We are experiencing technical issues with a third-party vendor that are temporarily impacting account services, deposits, and payment processing for some consumer, small business, and commercial banks.”
In a second statement 24 hours later, the company said:
“We are continuing to work to address this technical issue and will share updates once it is resolved.”
Neither statement satisfied Davis.
“There are still a lot of relatively unanswered questions,” Davis said. “My car payment is due on Monday, it's my first car payment since I just bought a new car, and they won't understand if I don't get the money.”
Davis said he spoke with a Capital One representative and was told Capital One would pay late fees for missed bills.
