Car drives through Italian restaurant’s windows, sending brunch customers running

Shocking footage shows the moment a car crashes into a restaurant in Georgia where customers were enjoying a meal over the weekend.

Fresca Trattoria owner Lisa Myers told FOX 5 Atlanta that a car crashed into her restaurant Saturday around 3 p.m.

The restaurant, located in Stone Mountain, Georgia, specialized in Italian cuisine and was serving brunch at the time.

Footage shows a group of customers jumping from their seats and fleeing just two seconds before the car crashes into the table.

Another surveillance camera recorded the car crashing into the restaurant's glass windows and traveling over empty tables and seats.

There were no reports of deaths or injuries, but Myers said her daughter was nearly injured in the incident.

“The waitress, who happens to be my daughter, was standing there. [where the car crashed] It was about three minutes before the car passed,” the restaurant owner told FOX 5. “So I'm really glad she was. Everyone was okay.”

The restaurateur added that when he spoke to the driver of the car, he said the gas pedal stopped working and the brakes stopped working.

Myers also told FOX 5 he doesn't know if insurance will cover all the damage and joked that the restaurant has become the new “drive-thru.”

“thank you [customers]'' said Myers. “We don't know what a woman's insurance will cover and what it won't.”

On Sunday night, the restaurant took to Facebook to thank members of the local community for supporting its operations following the incident.

“The windows are boarded up and the sky is [sic] “Despite the cloudy skies, we are choosing to see the silver lining,” the post reads.

“No one was hurt and we are so grateful to be in Stone Mountain/Lilburn thanks to the outpouring of goodwill from the community.”

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Gwinnett County Police Department and Fresca Trattoria for additional comment.
