On Thursday, a man crashed his car into a barricade near the entrance to the Israeli embassy in Tokyo, injuring a police officer.
According to local media, police arrested a 53-year-old man at the scene.
Israeli embassy officials said the matter was under police investigation and declined further comment.
The incident took place near the embassy, where several pro-Palestinian demonstrations against Israel’s bombing of the Gaza Strip have been held in recent weeks.
Residents said police had stepped up security in the area since the Israeli-Hamas war began on October 7, including setting up temporary barricades.
A month ago, an Israeli embassy employee in Beijing was hospitalized after being assaulted on the street.
