Cardsmiths' Latest Currency Cards Feature More Than $500K in Actual Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and Ethereum

Simply put

  • Cardsmiths has launched a new trading card set that offers cards redeemable for a full Bitcoin.
  • These cards are priced at $37 for a two-pack and can be found at select retailers and on Cardsmith’s website.
  • Some users have successfully redeemed Bitcoin cards for over $100,000 after purchasing packs that cost as little as $13.

Cardsmith has unveiled its latest Currency Series set, which features five cards that can each be exchanged for one Bitcoin, currently valued at over $100,000. This release comes on the heels of prior successful redemptions by collectors.

Launched on Wednesday through the company’s site and select stores, Currency Series 5 offers the most extensive range of cryptocurrency redemption cards to date, allowing collectors to claim real-world amounts of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Dogecoin.

According to CEO Stephen Loney, “Demand for Currency Series 5 has surpassed all previous releases, with broader interest than any past currency set.”

The new series includes two packs of five trading cards each, available for $37. Data suggests that approximately one card redeemable for cryptocurrencies is found in every 96 packs sold.

To enhance its collectible appeal, Cardsmith has introduced a unique, non-redeemable “one of one” Bitcoin trading card in this set. This move strengthens the series’ standing as a coveted collectible item.

The company collaborated with artists like Gunship Revolution Studio and street artist Mr. Brainwash to give the cards a distinct visual appeal.

Ronnie, a representative from Cardsmith, shared, “Our goal has always been to create a truly unique ‘One of One’ card for each currency release. With Bitcoin being the most well-known and valuable cryptocurrency, it was a natural fit for this concept.”

Collectors have seen remarkable returns from Cardsmith’s currency exchange service over the past year, often turning $30 packs into substantial profits, sometimes exceeding $100,000, fueled by Bitcoin’s value increase.

In February, a user found a Bitcoin redemption card in a $50 pack, which could lead to profits over six figures post-redemption. Similarly, in August, a GameStop customer discovered a Bitcoin card in a $13 pack, worth around $115,000, prompting others to share comparable success stories following their purchases from the retailer.

As of Friday afternoon, supplies for Currency Series 5 were still available on Cardsmith’s website, where customers can use various cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, for payments, thanks to a partnership with BitPay.

Looking ahead, Cardsmith plans to continue its venture into cryptocurrencies, with future sets in development, including Currency Series 6. “Currency is our key intellectual property, and we have exciting announcements coming soon,” Loney noted.
