Terrance Thriving in New York After Recent Trade
Since arriving in New York, Prospect Carry Terrance seems to have found himself on a winning streak in several ways.
For a 20-year-old player, being pulled from one developmental route to another can be challenging, yet Terrance now has the chance to play close to home for the Rangers, thanks to his trade from the Ducks involving Chris Kryder in June.
He was drafted in the second round (59th overall) by Anaheim, but as an Akwesasne native, he hasn’t traveled back home much recently, even though his two sisters go to school nearby, one even in Albany.
“It’s incredible how Rangers fans don’t often head home,” Terrance commented after the second day of prospect development camp at the MSG Training Center. “It’s mainly those from Montreal and Boston, but I immediately got texts from Rangers fans and it was just so exciting.”
Earlier this month, Terrance also had the chance to reunite with one of his close friends, Malcolm Spence, who had played alongside him for three years with the Erie Otters.
Terrance was buzzing with excitement leading up to the Rangers drafting Spence at the 43rd pick last week. “I was actually lounging in bed on the second day of the draft. I saw the Islanders holding their pick and I just thought, ‘Please don’t let it be [Matthew] Schafer.’ Thankfully, that didn’t happen,” he shared.
“That’s why I was so nervous, just thinking, ‘Come on. Come on.’ When he got picked, I was over the moon for him. I sent a celebratory video to our group chat right away; it was such a thrill.”
So far, Terrance’s career hasn’t involved any significant moves across the country. This year marks his transition to professional hockey, starting with development camp as he aims to integrate into the Rangers as seamlessly as possible.
“Hockey is a business,” he explained. “Everything happens for a reason. Anaheim drafted me and I really had a great development experience there. I can’t express enough gratitude for them.”
Last season, Terrance showcased his skills with 20 goals and 19 assists over 45 games, totaling 39 points. Notably, he also earned a gold medal at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship.
As he prepares for training camp, Terrance is focused on gaining more weight and refining his role as both a “measured” and “vocal” player.
