Carlos Alcaraz Wins 2026 Australian Open
Carlos Alcaraz achieved a significant milestone on Sunday, overcoming Novak Djokovic with a score of 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5 to clinch the 2026 Australian Open in Melbourne.
At just 22, Alcaraz has become the youngest male player to complete a career Grand Slam. Prior to this victory, he had never made it past the quarterfinals of this tournament, but that all changed in the final against Djokovic.
After the match, he wrote on a television camera, “The job is done. 4/4 done.”
To secure his win, Alcaraz showcased his signature skills, engaging in numerous long rallies with Djokovic. Alcaraz effectively converted five out of 16 break points, while Djokovic managed to convert only two out of six.
Alcaraz expressed his gratitude to his support team for their encouragement, especially as he started the 2026 season on such a high note. He recently transitioned from his former manager, Juan Carlos Ferrero, to his new manager, Samuel López.
“No one knows how hard I worked to win this trophy. I just chased this moment so hard,” Alcaraz remarked, acknowledging the dedication he put into this achievement.
He continued, “We just did the right job. You inspired me every day to do all the right things. I really appreciate everyone in my corner right now.”
Meanwhile, Djokovic’s attempt for his 25th Grand Slam title was halted, once again, by either Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner.
