More than a decade after they met at a Bible study, Carlos and Alexa PenaVega remain in love, focused on their faith, and creating wholesome content for the whole family to enjoy. But as Carlos admits, it took a while to get Alexa’s attention.
“I was crazy about her, but she wasn’t crazy about me,” Carlos told Crosswalk Headlines.
The couple co-star as an on-screen couple in the new Great American Pure Flix movie. mr manhattanHowever, their real-life romance mirrors the plot of a romantic movie.
“It was my first time attending a Bible study,” Carlos said of their first meeting. “I just went to church recently. I got saved the week before and it changed my life. I was in a hell of a rut and was like, ” A friend invited me to this Bible study. My ex-girlfriend was there. I thought, “Well, maybe I should get back together with my ex-girlfriend.” Maybe that’s what’s meant to happen. ” But Alexa, this was my first time attending a Bible study. And after just a little connection, nothing happened. After that, we started dating casually. ”
In Alexa’s case, sparks didn’t fly, at least not right away. At that time, she preferred tall men.
“He was everything I never knew I wanted,” she said.
“I was very persistent,” Carlos said. “We would hang out and go to church on Sundays and go to Bible study on Thursday nights.”
They say their walk with Christ is the reason they fell in love.
“Everything we did revolved around faith,” Alexa said. “And that was wonderful, because God really put our foundation together in Him. And we were able to continue to grow from that. And that I think that’s why we’ve been able to get through such an interesting time as a couple, not just in the industry, but in our lives.”
“Our faith is everything,” Carlos said.
in mr manhattan, Carlos plays a businessman whose life changes when he learns that his brother and sister-in-law are tragically murdered and he is left with the responsibility of raising two children. Carlos says this is about the 10th time he and his wife have played a couple on screen.
“Carlos is a very friendly person,” Alexa said. “He likes to keep the energy fun and exciting. And it makes the set so much easier.”
Alexa may be best known for her roles in: spy kids Carlos became famous for his role in the Nickelodeon series big time rush (This is also the name of his musical group). In total, they have more than 150 project titles bearing their name.
They have a passion for family-friendly content.
“What we’re really getting increasingly difficult to work on is keeping things safe for families and keeping things pure for families, including content for kids,” Alexa told Crosswalk Head told Line. “I think it’s becoming more and more difficult for parents to navigate their way. For example, will this be okay for my child? Because what is currently considered family friendly and what isn’t? That’s because things are changing drastically.
“So our goal is to really bring back that old-school ’90s movie vibe of knowing you’re safe and knowing you don’t have to worry and feeling good, but at the same time There are lessons to be learned as well.” When you watch these movies, you learn something really valuable that you can take home and talk about as a family together after you’ve watched it. ”
They have been married for 11 years and have three children. Carlos said she is looking forward to another 50 years of marriage. Alexa has bigger goals.
“At least 70 years old,” she said with a laugh.
