Carlos Correa accidentally encouraged teammate Griffin Jax to seek a trade from the Twins

The Twins have undergone a significant transformation.

Last week, they made substantial changes to their roster at the trade deadline, parting ways with nearly half the team. Without the trade involving Carlos Correa, pitcher Griffin Jacks might have been a key player left standing.

As Correa was traded to the Astros, Jacks was also set to be dealt, realizing that his own request would soon follow.

Reports indicate that Jacks clashed with manager Rocco Baldelli during Wednesday’s game against the Red Sox.

This confrontation wasn’t intended to push Jacks to demand a trade. It was during this moment that Correa mentioned discussions he had with team president Derek Falvey. He had agreed to waive his no-trade clause only if the team was actively engaging in significant roster changes.

With Correa moving back to the Astros, the team he had spent seven seasons with, Jacks understood that the team dynamics were shifting and he didn’t want to be left behind.

As a result, he requested a trade and was sent to the Rays in exchange for former top pitching prospect Taj Bradley.

Before the deadline, Jacks had been performing well, showcasing impressive strikeout numbers of 14.1 K/9 with 72 strikeouts over 46 innings.

In the day leading up to the trade deadline, the Twins made moves involving 10 players from their 26-man roster.

This might have been the most surprising deadline for any team, as many were anticipating significant transactions.

Furthermore, the Twins also traded Joan Duran, a move that took many by surprise, especially considering they opted to part with Jacks.
