Carlos Mendoza’s son may have revealed Mets’ $700 million Juan Soto offer

There may be some truth to it, and the latest Juan Soto rumor definitely had some influence.

The Twitter post by @omzy__ was tied to a TikTok comment on an account believed to be run by one of Mets manager Carlos Mendoza's sons that claimed the Mets had offered Soto a 15-year, $700 million offer.

In response to a Bleacher Report video showing Soto's price tag against various teams vying for his services, one user, Brady, commented, “Soto on the Sox???”

A reply from an account purported to belong to Mendoza's son said, “No because the Mets are offering $700 over $15.”

After another commenter questioned the account, he responded, “Brother, do you know who's who (sic).”

The account attributed to the director's son contained two videos. One was a video of Mendoza's two sons working out with Francisco Lindor in spring training, and the other said, “Did my dad give a good speech?” It was written above it as the Mets celebrated clinching a playoff berth.

The TikTok account was deleted Friday morning as the post gained traction on Reddit and other platforms.

Following the social media drama, Soto is expected to make a decision in the coming days when winter meetings begin in Dallas starting Monday.

The Mets, Yankees, Blue Jays, Red Sox and Dodgers are among the candidates to acquire the 26-year-old hard-hitting outfielder.

The Post reported that Soto's offer is expected to exceed $600 million, and that Mets owner Steve Cohen, baseball's richest owner, has made no secret of his willingness to spend.

However, since Soto met with all five teams after the season, there have been no concrete reports about any offers that have surfaced.

“When you're going through something like this, he just has a lot of information to understand,” Soto's agent, Scott Boras, said at the Dodgers' press conference for joining Blake Snell on Tuesday. spoke.

“We've had meetings with a lot of franchises. He's started the process of eliminating teams and moving things forward, and that's who he is – Juan is a very methodical thinker. So let's see. Let's see. But I don't see anything imminent in the near future.”
