Carlos Santana Defends Bad Bunny Amid Rumors

San Francisco – Rock legend Carlos Santana has responded to rumors suggesting he is against Bad Bunny’s upcoming album, which has also been associated with this year’s Super Bowl halftime show. Some online chatter implied that the celebrated guitarist was displeased with the selection of the Puerto Rican star for the event.

A few even hinted that Santana might want to step in as a replacement performer.

On Monday, Santana took to Facebook to firmly refute these claims and voiced his support for Bad Bunny.

“We congratulate and celebrate Bad Bunny’s success and his place in the world and in the Super Bowl,” Santana stated. “I feel completely at one with what he is doing because we are here to use the arts to complement the world and bring it closer to harmony and unity.”

However, he also noted, “But we live in a time of fear, division, separation, superiority, and inferiority complexes. Fear is the flavor right now. Fear is what motivates ignorant people to put words into my mouth: I don’t want Bad Bunny in the Super Bowl. I’ve never said that and I never will.”

He clarified, “Just to be clear, my heart is completely with Bad Bunny and I admire his successes, victories, and incredible accomplishments. Everything else comes from people’s ignorance.”

Santana’s manager, Michael Vrionis, called the rumors “AI misinformation,” including the unfounded claims that Santana criticized Bad Bunny for wearing a dress during a performance.

“AI is accelerating the spread of misinformation and making it harder for truth to break through the noise,” Vrionis remarked in a statement, emphasizing that people should not depend on random or unverified posts, as even well-meaning news outlets can sometimes be misled.

Santana, who is 78, was born in Mexico and relocated to San Francisco with his family in the early 1960s. He formed the Santana Blues Band in 1966, which was subsequently renamed simply Santana in 1967.
